Build Primer
Best Starter Weapons and Martial Paths
Where Winds Meet avoids rigid classes: you build a combat identity by pairing weapons with Martial Arts paths. Choosing a forgiving starting combo makes the first chapters smoother, letting you learn Lightness Skills, boss patterns, and Jianghu systems without frustration.
How Weapons & Martial Paths Interact
Each weapon brings unique normals, heavies, and Martial Arts. As you level, you unlock paths that reinforce specific playstyles (burst combos, ranged poke, sustain, etc.). Mix and match to build an “all-rounder” loadout or a specialized kit. Early on, focus on one main weapon and a supportive secondary rather than upgrading everything at once.
What Makes a Good Starter Weapon?
- Readable attack patterns and generous hitboxes.
- Access to defensive tools (parries, blocks, short dodges).
- Viable in both story missions and open-world exploration.
- Reasonable stamina costs so you can recover from mistakes.
Recommended Starter Archetypes
Sword-Focused All-Rounders
Balanced offense/defense kits with intuitive combos, strong parries, and Lightness Skill synergy. Ideal as a first weapon.
Spears for Reach and Safety
Spears let you poke safely, control space, and exploit enemy openings from a distance. Great for players learning enemy patterns.
Support Hybrids (Fan/Umbrella)
Once you’re comfortable, add a fan or umbrella path to bring crowd control, shields, or healing into the mix. These pair well with your main DPS weapon.
Early Build Tips
- Commit to one primary weapon during the prologue and upgrade it regularly.
- Unlock a defensive Martial Art early (shield, heal, or mitigation) to survive mistakes.
- Test new skills in low-risk content like bounties before taking them into major bosses.
- Don’t chase meta from day one—pick what feels intuitive, then layer complexity over time.
